Now we start out on our trip from Milano to Padua. This is the first time on the highways of Italy. Here we go....

Looks like a normal highway for the most part.

Gotta get pictures of the power lines for Charlene!!

Here is a rest stop complete with a restaurant - don't have to get off the highway. Just like our turnpike rest areas.

It's not easy to see, but we're driving parallel and about 75 miles south of the Swiss Alps.

...in a Ford Focus!!!  This was actually a very large vehicle, relatively speaking.

They actually had Wi-Fi hot spots along the highway. Not cheap though - about $3.00/hour. (and you thought cable was expensive!!)

Still hard to see the mountains in the pictures. You're just going to have to come out and see for yourself !!!

JP was in his own world with his video game. Not much room back there - but he was cozy.

Still trying to get the mountains off in the distance. As we traveled towards Venice, the mountains got further away.

Wish this was a video - the guy in the left lane blew my doors off...and I was doing about 70 at the time.

Off the highway, heading for the town of "Rubano"

And here we are....the town of Rubano. It really does exist!!

Not very big - here's the end of the town already.  I think it's smaller than Oviedo???

Of course, every town has to have it's own MacDonalds....

Ok, gas isn't cheap. 1 Gallon of gas is 3.785 liters. That's $5.08 per gallon. But wait, that's in Euros, not dollars. It takes 1.53 dollars to buy one Euro. So now we're at $7.77 per gallon. And we though we had it bad!!! It's a good thing this car gets about 30 city and 45 highway mpg.

The view from our room in Padua. We'll be here for two days while we take a train to Venice.

The bathrooms are very different out here. They don't give you much room in the shower!!
