Arrived in Rome. This is our hotel room. Good rate and a great room!

Typical Italian shower, however. So small you can't bend over inside.

Big walk in closet and little bitty TV...

Our own private patio area.....pretty cool.

Looking out our window we could see our car parked right in front.

Our first day out into Rome and we visit the coliseum, of course!!

I wasn't expecting quite so worn out. It was built from 70 to 80 AD so I guess it's doing pretty good for almost 2000 years old!!

Let me tell you, the roads could use some work!! Pushing the stroller over this stuff wasn't fun.

After walking all around it, we checked into the tours. Just to get inside was $US20.00 per person and Bobby already told me there's not really anything inside but dirt and more ruins!! I decided to save the 60 bucks and watch it on the Discover Channel instead.

Ok, now for the pictures to prove that we were there......

More hills to push the stroller up (and down). We climbed this hill to get to a church at the top.

Interesting to think that some of these were built at the time Christ was walking around on the earth!!

Ok, time to get serious and eat some pizza!!!

I can do that!!!

The famous Trevi Fountain...it's the largest Baroque fountain in Rome.

Just another MacDonalds - this one complete with a pastry counter and a small Italian ice cream counter.

Happy Meals weren't cheap over there - $3.90 Euros which is about 6 bucks US.

A Big Mac meal was $6.50 Euros - that's almost 10 bucks US!! Holy cow!!

This corner had a fountain on each corner - hence, quattro fontane or four fountains.

Now we make our way to the Spanish Steps....

Can you say, "silly face!!"

A local artist had these pictures displayed...

This was a person, posing as a statue....give her a tip and she bows.

Just sitting there thinking!!.....

JP's asleep again - no wonder he didn't have any jet lag problems!!
Anyhow, we're at the Vatican City now.

I think that center window on the second floor is where the Pope usually appears to bless the people.

Ok, here's the "proof that we were here" pictures... (JP still sleeping!! what a life.)

The bell was ringing when I took this picture - can you hear it? (use your imagination!!!)

Looking down the street into the Vatican.

You have to look hard at this picture. See the "dots" in the sky? Those are thousands of birds flying together like a swarm of bees! I have no idea why!
