Ok, wake up our last day in Naples before we head south to Salerno and Roccadaspide. JP loves his little spot - and so does Daddy!!!

Well, here's the wonderful view we could have had for an extra $200.00 - what do you think?

There really are mountains out there - you just can't see them.

This is where we are having breakfast - in the rooftop restaurant with the panoramic view of the coastline.

JP really liked the Italian breakfast - mostly pastries and sweets!!

There's mommy in the buffet line getting her breakfast. (see me in the mirror?)

The waiters were smart and put us in a corner with JP.  They're no dummies!!
In a JP versus Tigger bouncy competition, JP would win!!

We have to drive down the mountain side and get into that traffic. There are no lines in the road so you just drive where ever you think will get you where you want to go. And for the Italians, you never know until they pull in front of you!!

There are rumors (on the weather channel) that it's going to clear up a little - we'll see. On the road to Salerno now. Getting a little better so you can start to see some of the country side again. That's Salerno down there.

(I didn't expect to see cactus in Italy???)

Port of Salerno with the city in the background...

More mountains getting visible. The weather is clearing some as we drive further south.

The city of Salerno....

We weren't able to accomplish much due to the constant rain and freezing cold - 45 degrees. Yup, that's freezing to a Floridian!! We just drove around for awhile and looked at the sites. I tried to go into one church we found but it was all locked up. Rang the bell and the guy didn't understand a word of English - and my Italian only works with Italians who also know English!!! So, back on the road again to Hotel Esplanade.

The rain is finally slowing down to a slight drizzle.

Arrived at the Hotel Esplande in Capaccio. We're staying here because it's only 30 minutes away from Roccadaspide. It will make the drive into the mountains easier tomorrow. But first, dinner!! (food is always a priority!)  This is the restaurant in Agropoli (15 minute drive) that we had dinner at. There was a restaurant in the hotel, but we wanted to explore. Too dark for more pictures - again, it's 45 degrees and raining so we can't just get out and walk around. I will tell you one thing about Italian drivers, they are the same all over Italy, regardless of how small the town is!! Driving in New York was a breeze - here, it's like continual bumper cars but you try not to bump. Are you getting a visual?

Back to the hotel which is rather new and beautiful, and the door lock on our room failed. So, we get free hot chocolate & cookies while we wait for them to fix the door....and we talk to Costa behind the bar. He's been married 5 years and has a 4 year old girl.

Here's the view from our balcony terrace (whoo hoo) into the pool and garden area. Unfortunately it's still raining, but there's hope. It was pouring last night, slowed down by 7am and now it's stopped and clouds are lifting.

Not too clear in this picture because there is still a lot of cloud/fog cover, but in the left corner of this picture just above the palm trees a snow covered mountain is trying to peek out!! It's 8:00am now - let's hope it clears up more for the mountain driving.

Ciao!!
